EMDR

Break free from the past

You went through a rough experience, and perhaps you didn’t consider it traumatic at the time. But you feel as if you never were able to fully move on. You are still haunted by intrusive thoughts of the event. Perhaps it’s affecting your sense of security in the world, or you blame yourself for what happened. It is possible to not just survive, but recover from this. EMDR can help you neutralize the impact of even truly awful experiences.

“There is a difference between knowing and understanding. I had known that this wasn't my fault. EMDR unlocked the gate to the next realm, towards understanding.” ~Stephanie Foo

EMDR is an evidence based therapy to process traumatic events.

Traumatic memories get stuck and don’t process fully. Using bilateral stimulation, we help your brain integrate the memory while releasing the emotional and physical intensity that has made it overwhelming. During virtual therapy, we use butterfly tapping to help you stay regulated while free associating through different parts of the memory until the activation decreases. After reprocessing, the memory gets stored differently, as an experience you learned from rather than an ever-present threat coloring your perceptions.

“For all of us, unprocessed memories are generally the basis of negative responses, attitudes and behaviors. Processed memories, on the other hand, are the basis of adaptive positive responses, attitudes and behaviors.” ~ Francine Shapiro
